A result of this is they sound like metal albums, as they should have done all along. Two Megadeth remasters I would recommend getting are those of Cryptic Writings and Risk, on both of which Dave remixed and removed certain elements the producer insisted on (such as the sitar in A Secret Place and the violin intro in Insomnia). Megadeth up till then had gone through several drummers and guitarists, and then along came Marty Friedman and Nick Menza, two ridiculously. I guess Dave magically 'found' the original vocals a couple of years later (IE, succumbed to public pressure and put the right ones out again). I don't know if the 'new' version was released on vinyl, but funnily enough, the original mix was remastered and released on vinyl a few years after the remastered CDs. To me however, it's always seemed like an alternative version and is no substitute for the original, which can be picked up cheaply and has great mastering for a thrash album of that period. Nick Menza’s drums fire like artillery on the album’s closer “Rust In Peace…Polaris” before the band bestows extra fan favorites like “Peace Sells,” “Trust” and “She-Wolf.The rerecorded vocals sound bad, though the CD may be worth having for these as well as the exclusive bonus track My Creation and the demos.
