A result of this is they sound like metal albums, as they should have done all along. Two Megadeth remasters I would recommend getting are those of Cryptic Writings and Risk, on both of which Dave remixed and removed certain elements the producer insisted on (such as the sitar in A Secret Place and the violin intro in Insomnia). Megadeth up till then had gone through several drummers and guitarists, and then along came Marty Friedman and Nick Menza, two ridiculously. I guess Dave magically 'found' the original vocals a couple of years later (IE, succumbed to public pressure and put the right ones out again). I don't know if the 'new' version was released on vinyl, but funnily enough, the original mix was remastered and released on vinyl a few years after the remastered CDs. To me however, it's always seemed like an alternative version and is no substitute for the original, which can be picked up cheaply and has great mastering for a thrash album of that period. Rust In Peace is the fourth studio album by thrash metal band Megadeth. Airtight leads are executed with athletic precision and Mustaine’s voice sounds like it hasn’t aged a day. From the opening of “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due” it’s obvious that the chemistry between band members is still surging. Polaris' were made by Mustaine in his time in Metallica that come from jams in Ron McGovney's garage in 1982. True fans will rejoice in the return of Dave Ellefson on bass.

The riffing is fast and intricate, as is the songwriting. Naturally, the guitar work is the highlight of this album. These 16 tracks were recorded on the last night of the tour at the Palladium in Hollywood (mere blocks away from where the band first formed in 1983).
